Epoxy Polymers
Expoxy polymers are one of the hundreds of types of polymers that are available in the industry and are one of the most widely used ones. Epoxy polymers also called as epoxy resins are a class of resins that are derived by polymerization from the epoxides. The epoxy polymers have a unique property of resisting high temperatures. Also it has good resistance against varied chemical reactions of some chemicals including water, oils, fuels, acids, bases, and salts. Thus the main use of expoxy polymers is in the adhesive industries. In addition to that, they are also used in making coatings, creating insulation in the electrical appliances, solder mix and also in castings.
The bonds formed using the epoxy adhesives are resistant to thermal cycling and a number of chemicals. The adhesives bonds to a number of substrates and does not contain any diluents or solvents. It is useful for staking the heat sensitive components in the PCB applications and as a potting compound. Thus they are more preferred than the other adhesives.
Due to the great adhesive property of the epoxy adhesives they are thus widely spread in all the industries that are related to the automotive, aerospace, marine, medical, electronics, optical, photonic, sports goods, and furniture.
